Dare to laugh + bits and bobs

The Stephen Lewis Foundation is a Canadian NGO that helps counter HIV/AIDS in Africa at a grassroots level. Pat Thornton is a Toronto-based comedian who I’d never heard of until yesterday. What brought him to my attention was this blog post about the Dare to Remember campaign. Anyone can join this campaign. You just have to decide on a dare, then carry it out to raise money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

Thornton’s dare is to do stand-up for 24 hours straight, starting November 15th at 6pm. In the process, he hopes to raise $6,000. What makes this dare even more awesome is that a friend of Thornton’s has decided that HE will raise money for the Dare to Remember by watching Thornton’s show for all 24 hours, and laughing at every joke. Now that’s a true friend!
